Five Note Trio
For Clarinet, Cello, and Piano
Five Note Trio is a piano trio piece composed by Christopher Mesa. The name of the piece came from the musical notes being built around three different five-note chords. All of the notes for each chord were selected at random. The first chord consists of C, D, A, Db, and Eb, the second chord is E, G, B, C#, and D#, and the third chord is Bb, D, F, Gb, and A. To avoid repetition, these chords are transposed throughout the piece.
